This weekend SCC would like all of us to celebrate the United States of America reaching its 250th year of declaring its independence.
When the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence, they put everything on the line to create a better world for their families and the future of humanity, laying the foundation for our country through our constitution.
This 4th of July, as we celebrate the courage, sacrifice & honor of our Founding Fathers and those who fought for our freedom, we honor and remember all of those who have given their lives in the fight for America’s way of life and the freedoms provided to our great Country.
As the American spirit rings out across our country, join us to celebrate with your family and friends. Here’s to 250 years of freedom!
Happy 250th Birthday America!

With fire season already here & every second counting in an emergency, it’s great to know that CAL FIRE’s training is second to none. SCC partnered with Diede Construction, Inc. for California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) at their primary Training Center to build and construct a Multi Function Live Fire Prop for the CALFIRE team.
This project demonstrates multiple complexities which include coordinating precise timing between concrete trucks every three minutes which provided quality placement and finishing operations of the concrete structure.
SCC was an honored to support CAL FIRE in “Defending People, Wildland, and California’s Way of Life” by supporting them in the latest addition of the Multi Function Live Fire Prop.
“Only you can prevent forest fires” Happy early 79th birthday Smokey Bear (August 9th)!

Sometimes what might be perceived as a small project, has a substantial impact, yes indeed.
SCC partnered with Mark 3 MEP, LLC & Mainspring Energy, Inc. to support the Lathrop Irrigation District for the River Island Community located within San Joaquin County for installation of generator and switch gear pads.
This project demonstrates that not all 3 am concrete placements have concrete trucks arriving every 3 minutes, sometimes the most efficient and coordinated concrete placements have concrete trucks arriving every 10-15 minutes.
When every minute counts in the quality of the concrete placement, the preparation starts weeks before the concrete arrives at the project by efficiently coordinating the spacing between concrete trucks.
When every minute counts in concrete, we know how to use them. That’s how we live our mission, by adding value to the River Island Community, one generator pad at a time.

Skutley Contracting Corporation was proud to partner with Carter-Kelly, Inc. on the multi-year, multi-phase UC Davis Medical Center Hospital Seismic Upgrades for the Increments 3 & 4 project, preparing for the eventual demolition of the North/South Wing.
This effort was driven by UC Davis Health's need to comply with Senate Bill 1953 – the Hospital Facilities Seismic Safety Act – to maintain hospital licensure.
In short, the success of this project played a critical role in ensuring the continued operation of the UC Davis Main Hospital.
The project journey began years before construction even started—receiving design approvals as early as 2014, OSHPD/HCAI approval in 2017, and initial bidding in 2018. What followed was nearly six years of starts, stops, shifting timelines, and a compressed schedule as the SB 1953 deadline approached.
Despite repeated hurdles, SCC remained committed, engaged, and ready to move forward whenever the project moved forward.
A project of this complexity demanded exceptional skill, meticulous coordination, and true collaboration among every project partner. SCC was prepared for that challenge.
Our scope included extensive excavation, forming, rebar reinforcement, complex concrete placement, and finishing of highly technical structural and flatwork concrete elements: stairway foundations, ejector and equipment pits, elevated deck infills, lightwell slabs, and site flatwork.
Not your everyday scope—but our team executed with precision, delivering high-tolerance concrete work safely within an active healthcare environment.
At SCC, we thrive on challenging, long-duration projects that require persistence, resilience, and a dedicated, solutions-driven trade partner. This project was a powerful example of what commitment over time can achieve.
